<image:title>Hypnotherapy Blog - Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy in Derbyshire: What To Expect - What to Expect with Quit Smoking Hypnotherapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Most people book this without any real idea of what they are walking into. They have seen hypnosis on the telly, they have heard someone at work swear by it, and they have a vague sense that they will go under and wake up not wanting a cigarette. That is not what happens, and knowing what does happen makes the whole thing considerably easier. So this is the full walkthrough of a stop smoking hypnotherapy session in Derbyshire. Where it is, how long you are there, what I will ask you, what the hypnosis part is actually like, and what the days afterwards look like. No mystique. You will book with a much better idea of what you are paying for.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hypnotherapy Blog - Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy in Derbyshire: What To Expect - Who you would be working with</image:title>
<image:caption>I am Emma Fogg and I run Next Chapter Hypnotherapy from Derbyshire. I came to this as a client first. Hypnotherapy changed something for me that I had spent a long time assuming was just my personality, and a few years later I retrained so I could do it for other people. I hold a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and a practitioner diploma from a 300+ hour practical training course, which is the level of qualification the NHS lists as essential on its Solution Focused Hypnotherapist job adverts, and which qualifies me for CNHC registration. In August 2026 I was named Best Alternative Therapy Provider at the Business Awards UK Health and Wellbeing Awards. More usefully than any of that, I am not going to lecture you about smoking. You have probably had plenty of that already.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hypnotherapy Blog - Why willpower alone rarely works for stopping smoking - "I just haven't got the willpower."</image:title>
<image:caption>I hear that sentence in almost every discovery call about smoking. It is worth pulling apart, because it is doing you a disservice on two counts. It is not accurate, and it puts the problem somewhere you cannot do anything about it. You have plenty of willpower. You use it constantly. You get up when you would rather not, you do things you do not fancy doing, you hold your tongue when you would love not to. Nobody gets through an ordinary week without it. So the question is not whether you have any. It is why this particular thing keeps beating it.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/697e4c04535427418d68ed5b/f4fd8a48-56f2-4fe6-8330-a78822463d61/stress-bucket-diagram.png</image:loc>
<image:title>Hypnotherapy Blog - Why willpower alone rarely works for stopping smoking - Why stress makes it so much worse</image:title>
<image:caption>In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we talk about the stress bucket, and it is useful here. Everything you are carrying goes into the bucket. Work, money, family, the broken thing you have not got round to, the conversation you are dreading, the fact you slept badly. Ordinary life, none of it dramatic. When the bucket is low, you have full access to the reasoning part of your brain. You are patient, you think clearly, you make decisions you are pleased with the next day. When the bucket fills up, you get pushed down into that older, faster part instead. Everything feels more urgent. You are shorter with people. You reach for the familiar things, because the familiar things are what the automatic brain has on file. So a stressful fortnight is not a neutral fortnight in which you happen to have less willpower. It is a fortnight where you are operating out of the exact part of your brain that has smoking stored in it as a solution. This is why people so often stop successfully and then start again the week something goes wrong. Nothing about their commitment changed. Their bucket filled up.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hypnotherapy Blog - Award Winning Hypnotherapist | Best Alternative Therapy Provider 2026 - I have just been named Best Alternative Therapy Provider 2026 at the Business Awards UK Health and Wellbeing Awards for Derbyshire.</image:title>
<image:caption>The trophy arrived and I sat with it on the kitchen table for a while before I told anybody, which is not very good marketing (oops) Next Chapter Hypnotherapy exists because I was the client first. Years ago I was the one with the anxiety. I was fairly convinced that it was just me suffering, no-one else felt the way I did because you really become absorbed in your own head around it. Hypnotherapy was the thing that finally shifted it and I came out the other side genuinely different. That sat with me for a good few years afterwards. A bit of a thought that would not leave: if something could change that much for me, I wanted to be the person doing it for somebody else. Eventually I stopped talking myself out of it and retrained. The practice began as a hybrid one, in person sessions alongside online. It has since become fully online (with the exception of Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy and Stop Vaping Hypnotherapy) because I find hypnotherapy equally as effective online as in-person. A lot of people think it needs to be face to face but when you think how our survival brain operates, travelling to a new location with a new person can be very scary but relaxing in your safe place in the comfort of your own home is easy and we need you to relax into the experience. It also means that I can work globally (which I do have clients in the USA, Canada and Australia). I do run in-person group sessions using immersive silent disco headsets allowing a budget friendly alternative for people to access hypnotherapy so if you are local to Derby, why not come along to one of my group wellness events in Ilkeston, easily accessible from Nottingham, Derby, Long Eaton, Heanor, Ripley and Eastwood. After going through my own experience with anxiety, I am extremely passionate and determined to help as many people as possible. So to have an independent panel look at all that and call it the best in the county is a strange and lovely thing.</image:caption>

I am Emma, a Solution Focused hypnotherapist, and this is written for the people who have already tried.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hypnotherapy for Anxiety - Anxiety can feel like your mind and body are constantly on alert.</image:title>
<image:caption>Even when everything appears fine on the outside, inside you may feel tense, restless or unable to fully relax. Thoughts might race ahead to worst-case scenarios, or your body may respond with unease, a tight chest, shallow breathing, an unsettled stomach, or a quiet sense that something isn’t quite right. For many people, anxiety doesn’t arrive with a clear cause. It can build gradually over time, becoming part of everyday life until you realise it’s affecting your sleep, confidence, focus or enjoyment of things you once found easy. Hypnotherapy for Anxiety Hypnotherapy for anxiety offers a calm, evidence-based way to help the nervous system settle and the mind regain balance. Rather than forcing thoughts to stop or analysing every worry, solution-focused hypnotherapy works with how the brain naturally responds to stress helping reduce overthinking, ease physical symptoms and restore a sense of calm and control. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I offer solution-focused hypnotherapy for anxiety, supporting clients online across the UK and in person in Derby / Nottingham (DE72). How Anxiety Develops in the Brain Anxiety is closely linked to how the brain processes threat. When the brain perceives danger, the primitive survival system becomes activated, releasing stress hormones designed to protect you. When this system stays switched on for too long, it can begin reacting even when no real danger is present. This can lead to: Persistent anxious thoughts and overthinking Panic attacks or sudden waves of fear Physical symptoms such as a racing heart, nausea or dizziness Difficulty concentrating or relaxing Ongoing tension and disrupted sleep Understanding anxiety from a neurological perspective helps remove self-blame and fear and is a core part of solution-focused hypnotherapy. How Hypnotherapy Helps Anxiety & Stress Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) helps calm the nervous system and reduce the stress response that keeps anxiety active. When anxiety is present, the brain can remain in a heightened state of alert even when there is no immediate danger. Hypnotherapy supports the brain in moving out of this stress state and into one of calm focus and safety. Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help: reduce the release of stress hormones calm physical anxiety symptoms strengthen the brain’s natural ability to regulate emotions Rather than analysing past experiences in detail, solution-focused hypnotherapy looks forward supporting the brain in learning calmer, more balanced responses over time. Many people describe hypnotherapy as helping them feel more grounded, clearer in their thinking, and less reactive to everyday stressors. Does Hypnotherapy Work for Anxiety? Hypnotherapy is widely used to support people experiencing anxiety because it works with both the mind and the body. Anxiety is not just a mental experience it also involves physical stress responses such as muscle tension, shallow breathing and increased heart rate. Hypnotherapy helps calm these responses first, which often makes anxious thoughts easier to manage. Many people find hypnotherapy helpful because it: promotes deep relaxation reduces physical anxiety symptoms supports calmer thought patterns helps break cycles of overthinking and panic While everyone’s experience is individual, many clients notice improvements within a small number of sessions, with changes building gradually over time. Hypnotherapy for Panic Attacks Panic attacks are often driven by a cycle of physical sensations and fear. When the body reacts strongly, the mind interprets those sensations as danger, which intensifies the panic. Hypnotherapy for panic attacks focuses on: calming the body’s stress response reducing fear of panic returning helping the brain respond differently to triggers As the body learns that it is safe, panic attacks often become less intense and less frequent. Hypnotherapy for Overthinking & Chronic Worry Overthinking is one of the most common features of anxiety. The mind can become stuck in repetitive “what if” loops, constantly scanning for risk. Hypnotherapy helps: quiet mental chatter reduce rumination improve emotional regulation create mental space and clarity This allows you to feel calmer, more present and less mentally overwhelmed. How Many Hypnotherapy Sessions Are Needed for Anxiety? The number of hypnotherapy sessions needed for anxiety varies from person to person. Some people notice positive changes within a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer course of support. Factors such as stress levels, sleep quality and how long anxiety has been present can all influence progress. Solution-focused hypnotherapy works cumulatively each session helps reinforce calm responses and strengthen emotional resilience. This can be discussed in more detail during your free 20-minute discovery call. Is Hypnotherapy Safe for Anxiety? Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and non-invasive approach. You remain: fully aware and conscious in control at all times able to open your eyes or speak whenever you wish Hypnotherapy is not mind control, and you cannot be made to do anything against your will. <image:title>Hypnotherapy for Stress & Burnout - Stress can build so gradually that you don’t always notice it, until everything starts to feel too much.</image:title>
<image:caption>You may feel constantly under pressure, mentally exhausted, or stuck in a cycle of coping and pushing through without ever truly switching off. Burnout often doesn’t arrive suddenly. It develops over time through ongoing stress, responsibility and emotional load, until motivation drops, patience wears thin and even simple tasks feel overwhelming. Left unaddressed, stress and burnout can affect sleep, mood, focus, confidence and overall wellbeing. Hypnotherapy for Stress & Burnout Hypnotherapy for stress and burnout offers a calm, evidence-based way to help the nervous system recover from prolonged pressure. Rather than pushing through or trying to “think positively”, solution-focused hypnotherapy works with how the brain responds to stress, helping the body move out of survival mode and back into balance. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I support clients experiencing stress, overwhelm and burnout through online hypnotherapy across the UK, as well as in-person sessions in Derby / Nottingham (DE72). What Stress & Burnout Can Feel Like Stress and burnout can show up in many different ways, including: constant mental or physical tension feeling overwhelmed or emotionally drained irritability or reduced patience difficulty concentrating or making decisions poor sleep or waking feeling unrefreshed loss of motivation or enjoyment feeling disconnected, flat or numb Burnout is not a personal failure, it is often a sign that the nervous system has been under strain for too long. How Stress & Burnout Develop in the Brain When the brain perceives ongoing pressure, it activates the body’s stress response to help you cope. In the short term, this response can be useful. However, when stress becomes chronic, the nervous system may struggle to return to a calm, regulated state. This can lead to: persistent alertness difficulty relaxing or switching off emotional exhaustion reduced resilience to everyday challenges Understanding stress and burnout from a neurological perspective helps reduce self-blame and is a core part of solution-focused hypnotherapy. How Hypnotherapy Helps Stress & Burnout Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) helps calm the nervous system and reduce the stress response that keeps burnout going. Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help: reduce stress hormone levels release physical tension calm mental overload support emotional regulation By helping the brain move out of survival mode, hypnotherapy allows energy, clarity and motivation to return gradually and naturally. Many clients report feeling calmer, more grounded and better able to cope as sessions progress. Does Hypnotherapy Work for Stress & Burnout? Yes, hypnotherapy can be very effective for stress and burnout because it works with both the mind and the body. Stress and burnout are often maintained by ongoing nervous-system activation rather than a lack of willpower. Burnout & Emotional Wellbeing Burnout can affect emotional wellbeing as well as energy levels. You may notice: feeling emotionally flat or tearful reduced confidence loss of enjoyment or motivation feeling disconnected from yourself or others Hypnotherapy supports emotional wellbeing by helping the nervous system stabilise and restoring a sense of internal calm and clarity. Work-Related Stress & Anxiety Workplaces can be a major source of stress that feeds into anxiety, even when you’re performing well or feel capable. You may find yourself worrying about deadlines, performance, expectations or outcomes, and these concerns can sit beneath the surface until they affect your everyday sense of calm. Work-related stress often overlaps with anxiety, making the physical and mental symptoms stronger and harder to manage. When the nervous system remains in a heightened state of alert because of persistent pressure, it can lead to: constant tension or mental pressure difficulty switching off after work dread about upcoming workdays worry about performance or judgment early morning anxiety or “Sunday night dread” irritability, exhaustion or emotional overwhelm Work stress doesn’t need a crisis to affect you, it can build quietly over time. Over time, poor sleep can begin to affect mood, concentration, resilience and overall wellbeing. Hypnotherapy for Sleep & Insomnia Hypnotherapy for sleep problems offers a calm, natural way to help the mind and body settle into rest. People often find hypnotherapy helpful because it: encourages deep relaxation reduces bedtime anxiety helps quiet mental chatter supports healthier sleep patterns Everyone’s experience is individual, but many clients notice improvements over a small number of sessions. <image:title>Hypnotherapy for Overthinking - Overthinking can feel like your mind never truly switches off.</image:title>
<image:caption>Even when you want to relax, thoughts may loop endlessly, replaying conversations, analysing decisions, or jumping ahead to everything that could go wrong. You might feel mentally exhausted yet unable to rest, stuck in a cycle of “what ifs”, self-doubt or constant mental noise. For many people, overthinking isn’t about one specific worry. it’s a habit the mind has slipped into over time. Left unchecked, overthinking and rumination can begin to affect sleep, confidence, focus and emotional wellbeing. Hypnotherapy for Overthinking Hypnotherapy for overthinking offers a calm, practical way to quiet the mind and reduce repetitive thought patterns. Rather than trying to force thoughts away, solution-focused hypnotherapy works with how the brain responds to stress, helping the nervous system settle so the mind can naturally slow down. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I support clients experiencing overthinking, rumination and racing thoughts through online hypnotherapy across the UK, as well as in-person sessions in Derby / Nottingham (DE72). What Is Overthinking & Rumination? Overthinking often involves the mind becoming stuck in repetitive loops of thought. This might include: replaying past conversations or events analysing decisions repeatedly worrying about future outcomes mentally scanning for problems or mistakes Rumination is similar but tends to focus more on the past repeatedly revisiting situations, regrets or “should haves”. These patterns are not a sign of weakness or failure. They are often linked to the brain’s attempt to keep you safe by anticipating or preventing future discomfort. How Overthinking Develops in the Brain When stress or anxiety is present, the brain’s threat system can become more active. This heightened state of alert can make the mind: more vigilant more analytical less able to switch off Over time, the brain can learn overthinking as a default response, even when there is no immediate problem to solve. Understanding this process helps remove frustration and self-criticism, and is a key part of solution-focused hypnotherapy. How Hypnotherapy Helps Overthinking & Racing Thoughts Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) helps calm the nervous system and reduce the mental overactivity that drives overthinking. Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help: quiet mental chatter reduce rumination improve emotional regulation create a sense of mental space and clarity By supporting the brain in moving out of a constant stress response, hypnotherapy allows thoughts to slow naturally without effort or force. Many people describe feeling clearer, calmer and less mentally drained as overthinking patterns begin to soften. Does Hypnotherapy Work for Overthinking? Hypnotherapy can be particularly effective for overthinking because it works with both the mind and the body. When the body is tense or stressed, the mind often follows with racing thoughts. Hypnotherapy helps calm the physical stress response first, making it easier for the mind to let go of repetitive thinking. People often find hypnotherapy helpful because it: promotes deep relaxation reduces mental overload helps break cycles of rumination supports calmer, more balanced thinking Everyone’s experience is individual, but many clients notice positive changes within a small number of sessions. Overthinking, Anxiety & Emotional Wellbeing Overthinking is often closely linked with anxiety, stress and low confidence. The mind may overanalyse situations in an attempt to feel more prepared or in control, but this can have the opposite effect increasing worry and mental fatigue. Hypnotherapy helps address these patterns gently, supporting emotional balance and helping you feel more present and at ease. Racing Thoughts at Night Many people experience overthinking most strongly at night. When the body slows down, the mind may speed up, replaying the day, planning ahead or scanning for potential problems. This can make falling asleep difficult and contribute to ongoing sleep problems. Hypnotherapy helps calm this mental activity, allowing thoughts to slow naturally rather than trying to force the mind to be quiet. How Many Hypnotherapy Sessions Are Needed for Overthinking? The number of sessions needed varies from person to person. Some people notice improvements within a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer course of support. Factors such as stress levels, sleep quality and how long overthinking has been present can all play a role. Is Hypnotherapy Safe for Overthinking? Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and non-invasive approach. You remain: fully aware and conscious in control at all times able to open your eyes or speak whenever you wish Hypnotherapy is not mind control, and you cannot be made to do anything against your will. <image:caption>Low confidence can affect far more than people realise. Sometimes it’s obvious struggling to speak up, avoiding attention or feeling anxious socially. Other times, it’s quieter. Constantly second-guessing yourself. Replaying conversations afterwards. Feeling like everyone else seems more capable than you. Worrying you’ll get something wrong even when logically you know you’re probably fine. For many people, confidence issues become exhausting because the mind never really switches off. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I offer Solution Focused Hypnotherapy in Derby and online, helping clients reduce anxiety, calm overthinking and build healthier confidence from the inside out. Why Confidence Problems Can Feel So Deeply Rooted Low self-esteem and confidence issues are often built gradually over time through stress, difficult experiences, criticism, bullying, relationships or years of negative self-talk. Eventually, the brain starts treating everyday situations like meetings, social situations, speaking up, dating, interviews or confrontation as potential threats. This can leave people stuck in cycles of: overthinking self-doubt people pleasing fear of judgement social anxiety imposter syndrome constantly feeling not good enough The difficult part is that confidence problems are rarely solved through logic alone. Even when you know rationally that you’re capable, the nervous system can still react automatically with anxiety and self-protection. How Hypnotherapy Can Help Confidence & Self-Esteem Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines neuroscience, psychotherapy and guided relaxation to help calm the nervous system and reduce the negative thinking patterns that often fuel low confidence. As anxiety reduces, many people naturally begin to feel: calmer socially more emotionally resilient less self-critical more comfortable speaking up more confident in themselves better able to cope with pressure and setbacks Sessions are positive, practical and forward-focused, helping you build healthier patterns without endlessly reliving the past. Confidence Hypnotherapy Near Derby & Nottingham My hypnotherapy practice is based near Derby (DE72), supporting clients across Derby, Nottingham, Long Eaton, Sandiacre, Risley and surrounding areas, as well as online across the UK. <image:title>Fear of Flying: When Anxiety Takes Over Travel - Flight Anxiety Treatment That Works</image:title>
<image:caption>Do you feel your heart racing at the mere thought of boarding a plane? Does the very idea of take off fill you with dread? You’re not alone many travellers live with the constant stress of flight anxiety. But you can reclaim your calm. Through my specialist hypnotherapy for fear of flying, you’ll discover a lasting solution so you can travel with confidence again. What’s Driving Your Fear of Flying? Flight anxiety (also known as aerophobia) can stem from many sources: a turbulent flight you once experienced, worry about being closed in, or the feeling of losing control at 35,000 feet. Your body reacts as though there’s a real threat, releasing adrenaline, tightening muscles and making you feel helpless. Recognising the root of the fear is the first step and that’s exactly what we address in our sessions. How Hypnotherapy Resets Your Flight Anxiety Hypnotherapy works beneath the surface of your conscious mind. Instead of simply telling yourself “I’ll be okay”, we guide your subconscious to shift how you feel about flying. Through deep relaxation, positive imagery, and targeted suggestion we help your brain rewrite the flight story as one of safety and control. ✔ Release the panic before boarding ✔ Replace dread with calm expectation ✔ Step through the airport lounge feeling relaxed ✔ Sit back and enjoy take-off with ease Because when your mind believes flying is safe, your body relaxes and that’s when freedom begins. What to Expect During Hypnotherapy: You remain fully aware, present and in control at all times You are gently guided into a deeply relaxed state similar to mediation. Positive suggestions and imagery are used to reduce fear and build confidence Your subconscious mind learns new, calmer responses to flying Many clients notice changes quickly, often feeling more relaxed even thinking about flying. By the final sessions, preparing for a flight can feel manageable and in some cases, even enjoyable. Many clients see major changes within around 4 sessions but some might need a few more. Online sessions mean you can join from home - no travel necessary. Your story could be next. Picture the airport lounge with a coffee in hand, not trembling; imagine landing and hopping into your next adventure with a big smile. Book a FREE 20 minute discovery call.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fear of Driving Hypnotherapy - Understanding Anxiety Behind the Wheel</image:title>
<image:caption>Fear of Driving – You’re Not Alone Fear of driving is far more common than many people realise. For some, it appears suddenly after a stressful event or accident. For others, it gradually builds over time until driving feels overwhelming or impossible. You may feel confident in many areas of your life, yet when it comes to driving, your body reacts with anxiety, panic or a strong urge to avoid it altogether. This can be frustrating, isolating and deeply limiting. I can help you gently overcome driving anxiety so they can feel calm, confident and in control again. Common Symptoms of a Fear of Driving Fear of driving can show up in many ways, including: Panic attacks or intense anxiety while driving Fear of losing control of the car Avoiding driving altogether or only doing short distances Anxiety about motorways or busy roads Fear of parking or reversing Fear of bridges, roundabouts or junctions Physical symptoms like dizziness, nausea, sweating or a racing heart Constant worry before a journey even begins You may find yourself planning your life around avoiding driving, relying on others or feeling trapped by the fear. Why Does a Fear of Driving Develop? Fear of driving is not a weakness or a failure, it is often the result of the brain trying to protect you. This fear can develop due to: A past accident or near miss A panic attack experienced while driving High stress or anxiety in other areas of life A period of not driving, followed by loss of confidence The brain associating driving with danger Menopause Once the fear is established, the subconscious mind begins to trigger a fight-or-flight response, even when there is no real danger present. How Hypnotherapy Helps with Fear of Driving Hypnotherapy works by addressing the root cause of the fear, rather than just managing symptoms. Using a calm, solution-focused approach, hypnotherapy helps to: • Retrain the subconscious response to driving • Reduce panic and physical anxiety symptoms • Build feelings of safety, control and confidence • Break the cycle of fear and avoidance • Replace anxious thought patterns with calm, rational responses Rather than forcing exposure, hypnotherapy works gently and naturally, allowing confidence to return at a pace that feels right for you. What to Expect from Hypnotherapy Sessions Sessions are relaxed, supportive and tailored entirely to you. During hypnotherapy: • You remain fully aware and in control at all times • You are guided into a deeply relaxed state • Positive suggestions are introduced to support calm and confidence • Your mind learns new, healthier responses to driving situations Many clients notice changes quickly, often feeling calmer even thinking about driving. Is Hypnotherapy Right for You? Hypnotherapy for fear of driving can help if: • You avoid driving or feel anxious before journeys • Panic or fear takes over when driving • You want to feel confident and independent again • You are ready to move forward but don’t know how You don’t need to relive past experiences or push yourself beyond your comfort zone. <image:title>Fear of Needles Hypnotherapy - A Calm, Confident Experience With Injections</image:title>
<image:caption>Does the thought of a needle make you panic? Do medical appointments fill you with dread long before the day arrives? You’re not alone. the fear of needles (or needle phobia) affects millions of people. With effective hypnotherapy, you can feel calm and in control again so injections, blood tests or vaccinations no longer hold you back. Why Do Needles Trigger Anxiety? Needles often become associated with pain, loss of control or frightening childhood experiences. Over time, your subconscious mind creates a protective response anxiety, nausea, shaking or even fainting. This reaction isn’t “you being dramatic” it’s your nervous system trying to keep you safe. Our work together focuses on retraining that automatic response so your body stays neutral and relaxed. How Hypnotherapy Helps You Overcome Needle Phobia Hypnotherapy works deep within the subconscious, where fear responses are stored. By gently reshaping the emotional meaning attached to needles, we build new associations: safety, calm, control and confidence. Clients experience: ✔ Reduced anxiety leading up to appointments ✔ Staying calm and grounded during procedures ✔ No panic, nausea or fainting response ✔ A sense of strength and relief after treatment Imagine sitting in the clinic chair feeling steady and leaving proud of yourself. What to Expect During Your Sessions You remain fully aware, present and in control at all times You are gently guided into a deeply relaxed state Positive suggestions are used to reduce anxiety and fear around needles Your subconscious mind learns new, calmer responses to injections and medical procedures Many clients notice changes quickly, often feeling calmer even thinking about needles or upcoming appointments. For some, medical procedures that once felt overwhelming become manageable and even routine. Your transformation is possible too and it often happens faster than you think. <image:title>Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy - Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy</image:title>
<image:caption>You already know you want to stop smoking. That bit is not the problem. The problem is the routine of it. One outside the back door with your morning coffee. The one in the car on the way home when your head is still at work. The one at the pub that appears in your hand automatically whilst having a drink. The one after a row to calm you down. Stop smoking hypnotherapy works on the subconscious part of your brain where your habits are stored. Not the part of you that knows the facts, the part of you that runs on auto pilot reaching for the packet before you have finished the thought. I am Emma, an award winning Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and I work with people who are completely done with smoking but cannot seem to stop. This is a single session, in person in Derbyshire or online anywhere in the UK. Why stopping is hard when you genuinely want to stop Nobody smokes because they have not read the health warnings. You have read them. You have probably read them on the side of the packet while smoking. What keeps a smoking habit going is not information. It is association. Years of the same cigarette at the same moment have wired the two together, so the moment now produces the urge on its own. Kettle on, hand moves. Car keys in the ignition, hand moves. Stressful email, hand moves. That is not weakness. That is a brain doing exactly what brains are built to do, which is to automate anything you repeat often enough so you do not have to think about it. The catch is that this happens below the level of your conscious decision making. Which is why willpower on its own is such hard work. You are trying to out think something that is not happening at the level of conscious thought. Hypnotherapy is one of the few approaches that works at that level. How hypnotherapy can help you stop smoking In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we do a few things to break the smoking habit. First we talk and understand the patterns and associations. We look at where smoking sits in your day, what it is currently doing for you and what you actually want your life to look like without it. A brain that has a clear picture of what it is moving towards works very differently to a brain that is only being told what it can no longer have. We learn and understand what smoking actually does in your brain because knowledge is power and as humans we are curious creatures, if we know what is going on up there we are better equipped to solve it. We also use some specialist techniques to break down the smoking habit further and remove any lasting reasons to actually want to smoke. Then we use hypnosis, which is a focused, deeply relaxed state you have been in many times without calling it that. Driving a familiar route and not remembering the last two junctions. Getting lost in a film. Daydreaming. In it, the analytical, arguing part of the mind quietens down and the mind becomes more receptive to new suggestion. So instead of you spending the week trying to talk yourself out of a cigarette, we spend that time reinforcing you as a person who does not smoke and loosening the automatic link between the trigger and the hand. You stay awake. You stay aware. You can hear me the whole time. Afterwards, you leave the session as a non smoker. You get an audio recording to use at home in the days that follow, which keeps reinforcing the work while everything settles. I also include WhatsApp support, so you can message me after the session with any questions. I do not disappear once you have paid, I want to support you through this huge change. That is, if you even feel that you need me of course! The honest bit Hypnotherapy can carry a lot of it. It cannot carry all of it. The session does the heavy work of changing how smoking sits in your mind but then you still have to walk past the shop. Hypnotherapy is not mind control. If you are hoping to be made into someone who never has another thought about it, without any effort on your side, I am the wrong person and Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is the wrong approach. I will say that on a discovery call rather than take your money. If you are ready and you want something that works with your brain rather than against it, this is worth your time.</image:caption>

<image:title>Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy - Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy FAQs</image:title>
<image:caption>1) Where is my stop smoking hypnosis session held? Most of my work is online. Stopping smoking is the one I genuinely prefer to do face to face, so I offer both and I will happily do either. In person sessions are near Long Eaton in Derbyshire, DE72, which is a straightforward run from Derby, Nottingham, Ilkeston, Beeston, Sandiacre, Draycott, Breaston and Borrowash. Online sessions run on Microsoft Teams and are exactly the same session. Same length, same structure, same recording. You need a quiet room, a laptop, phone or iPad, and somewhere comfortable to sit where you will not be interrupted. People often find they relax more deeply at home than they would in an unfamiliar room, which makes sense as our brain sees it as our safe place. If you are outside the UK, online works across time zones and I have worked with clients well beyond Derbyshire. 2) Is Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy right for me? It is a good fit if: You have decided to stop and you are looking for support to make it hold. You have stopped before and started again and you want to understand why. Patches, gum, vapes or willpower have not worked and you want a different angle. You are willing to do a small amount on your side between deciding and doing. It is not a good fit if: You are here because your partner, your GP or your children want you to stop and you do not. You are looking for something that requires nothing from you at all. You want a 100% guarantee. Nobody honest can give you one. 3) How much is the Stop Smoking Session? £250 for the one time session, in person or online it lasts for approximately 2 hours. That includes the pre session prep, the session itself, your personalised audio recording to keep and message support afterwards. Before you book anything you can have a free thirty minute discovery call, which costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It is a conversation to work out whether this is right for you. If it is not, I will say so. 4) How many sessions will I need to stop smoking? One. If something else is going on underneath, anxiety, high stress, a difficult period in your life, that may be worth working on separately and I will tell you if I think that is the case. 5) Will I be asleep or unconscious? No. Hypnosis is not sleep, you are not ‘put under’ and it is not unconsciousness. You will be relaxed, aware, able to hear me, able to speak and able to open your eyes whenever you want to. It feels like meditation or daydreaming you can move or open your eyes at any point. 6) Can you make me do something I do not want to do? No. That is stage hypnosis with a volunteer who has agreed to play along in front of an audience and it has very little to do with what happens in a clinical hypnotherapy session. You stay in control the entire time. 7) What if I have already tried patches, gum, vapes and everything else? That is most of the people I see. Nicotine replacement works on the chemical side. It does not touch the association side, which is why people can be fully patched up and still find their hand going to the pocket at the exact moment they always did. That association is what we are working on. 8) Do I need to have stopped before the session? No. Smoke normally right up to it. Some people have their last one on the way. Turning up already three days in and running on fumes makes the session harder, not easier. 9) Does stop smoking hypnotherapy work online? Yes. Online sessions are the same session, on Microsoft Teams, and hypnosis works perfectly well through a screen because the work is happening in your mind, not in the room. I offer in person for this one because I like doing it face to face, not because online is a lesser version. 10) Will I put weight on if I stop smoking? Some people worry about swapping one habit for another and it is a fair thing to raise. We cover this in the session and reinforce you as someone who is looking after themselves generally but I do give the option to replace the behaviour lightly with something else like drinking more water or squash instead which are great for our body and skin and wellness. Bring it up on the discovery call and we will plan for it.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hypnotherapy for Health Anxiety - Health anxiety can make everyday bodily sensations feel frightening and difficult to ignore.</image:title>
<image:caption>You may find yourself constantly monitoring your body, noticing sensations that others might brush off, or worrying that normal feelings could signal something serious. Health anxiety can be exhausting mentally, emotionally and physically and can start to affect sleep, concentration, confidence and overall wellbeing. Hypnotherapy for Health Anxiety Hypnotherapy for health anxiety offers calm, supportive help to reduce fear around bodily sensations and health-related thoughts. Using solution-focused hypnotherapy, sessions focus on helping the nervous system settle and supporting the brain to respond differently to health-related worry, without analysing symptoms or reinforcing fear. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I support clients with health anxiety through online hypnotherapy across the UK, as well as in-person sessions in Derby / Nottingham (DE72). What Health Anxiety Can Feel Like Health anxiety can show up in many ways, including: constant worry about illness or disease heightened awareness of bodily sensations fear that symptoms are being missed or overlooked repeated reassurance-seeking or checking difficulty trusting medical reassurance anxiety after reading health information disrupted sleep due to worry feeling unable to relax These experiences are driven by anxiety, not by the presence of illness. Why Health Anxiety Develops The brain’s role is to protect you from danger. In health anxiety, the brain becomes overly sensitive to physical sensations and misinterprets them as threats. This can activate the fight-or-flight response, increasing anxiety and making sensations feel more intense. Reassurance or checking may briefly calm anxiety, but often reinforces the cycle, making worries return again later. <image:title>Hypnotherapy for Panic Attacks - Panic attacks can feel sudden, overwhelming and frightening, even when there’s no obvious danger.</image:title>
<image:caption>You might experience intense fear, a racing heart, shortness of breath, dizziness or a sense of losing control. Many people describe panic attacks as coming “out of nowhere”, leaving them anxious about when the next one might happen. Over time, this fear of panic itself can start to affect confidence, routines and everyday life. Hypnotherapy for Panic Attacks Hypnotherapy for panic attacks offers a calm, supportive way to help the nervous system settle and reduce the intensity and frequency of panic responses. Rather than focusing on controlling symptoms, solution-focused hypnotherapy works with how the brain and body respond to perceived threat, helping panic become less overwhelming and more manageable. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I support clients experiencing panic attacks through online hypnotherapy across the UK, as well as in-person sessions in Derby / Nottingham (DE72). What Is a Panic Attack? A panic attack is a sudden surge of intense anxiety that can involve both physical and mental symptoms, such as: racing or pounding heart breathlessness or chest tightness dizziness or light-headedness trembling or shaking nausea or stomach discomfort fear of losing control or fainting While panic attacks are not dangerous, they can feel extremely distressing and convincing in the moment. Why Panic Attacks Happen Panic attacks are linked to the body’s fight-or-flight response. When the brain perceives threat, even if no real danger is present it can trigger a surge of adrenaline designed to protect you. In panic attacks, this response becomes activated unnecessarily. Over time, the brain can become sensitive to internal sensations (such as a faster heartbeat), which can unintentionally trigger further panic. How Hypnotherapy Helps Panic Attacks Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) helps calm the nervous system and reduce the automatic stress response that drives panic attacks. Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help: calm the body’s alarm system reduce sensitivity to physical sensations interrupt panic cycles increase feelings of safety and control By helping the brain respond differently to triggers, panic attacks often become less intense and less frequent over time. Does Hypnotherapy Work for Panic Attacks? Yes, many people ask “does hypnotherapy help panic attacks?” Hypnotherapy can be particularly effective because panic attacks are largely driven by subconscious responses rather than conscious thought alone. People often find hypnotherapy helpful because it: promotes deep physical relaxation reduces fear of panic sensations calms the nervous system supports confidence and reassurance Everyone’s experience is individual, but many people notice positive changes within a small number of sessions. Panic Attacks vs Anxiety Panic attacks and anxiety are closely linked but not the same. Anxiety often involves ongoing worry or tension Panic attacks are sudden, intense episodes of fear Hypnotherapy can support both by helping the nervous system respond more calmly and reducing the cycle of fear and anticipation. Fear of Having Another Panic Attack One of the most challenging parts of panic attacks is the fear of them happening again. This fear can lead to: avoidance of certain places or situations loss of confidence increased vigilance to bodily sensations Hypnotherapy helps reduce this anticipatory fear by restoring a sense of safety and trust in your body. How Many Hypnotherapy Sessions Are Needed for Panic Attacks? A common question is “how many hypnotherapy sessions are needed for panic attacks?” The number of sessions varies depending on individual circumstances. Some people notice improvement within a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support. Is Hypnotherapy Safe for Panic Attacks? Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and non-invasive approach. You remain: fully aware and conscious in control at all times able to open your eyes or speak whenever you wish Hypnotherapy is not mind control and cannot make you do anything against your will. What to Expect During Hypnotherapy Sessions Hypnotherapy is a calm, collaborative and deeply relaxing process. During sessions: you’ll learn how panic attacks develop in the brain your nervous system is guided into deep relaxation hypnosis supports positive subconscious change Many clients leave sessions feeling calmer, steadier and more reassured. Online & In-Person Hypnotherapy for Panic Attacks I offer: online hypnotherapy for panic attacks across the UK in-person sessions in Derby / Nottingham (DE72) Online sessions are just as effective and allow you to feel safe and comfortable in your own environment. <image:title>Hypnotherapy for Grief & Loss - Grief can affect every part of life, emotionally, mentally and physically and it rarely follows a straight line.</image:title>
<image:caption>You may be grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a role, a future you expected or a version of life that has changed. Even when others expect you to “be coping”, internally you may feel overwhelmed, numb, anxious, exhausted or stuck. Grief is deeply personal. There is no right timeline, no correct way to feel, and no requirement to “move on”. Hypnotherapy for Grief & Loss Hypnotherapy for grief and loss offers gentle, supportive space to help the nervous system settle and support emotional adjustment following loss. Using solution-focused hypnotherapy, sessions focus on reducing emotional overwhelm, easing anxiety and supporting your ability to cope day-to-day without rushing or forcing the grieving process. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I support clients experiencing grief and loss through online hypnotherapy across the UK, as well as in-person sessions in Derby / Nottingham (DE72). What Grief Can Look and Feel Like Grief can show up in many ways, and experiences vary widely. You may notice: waves of sadness or emotional pain anxiety or restlessness emotional numbness or detachment disrupted sleep or fatigue difficulty concentrating guilt, anger or confusion feeling disconnected from others fear about the future Grief can also resurface unexpectedly, even months or years after a loss. Loss Takes Many Forms Grief is not limited to bereavement alone. People may grieve: the death of a loved one miscarriage or fertility loss relationship breakdown or divorce loss of identity or purpose health changes career loss or redundancy anticipated loss or change All forms of loss are valid, and each can place strain on emotional wellbeing and the nervous system. Why Grief Can Feel So Overwhelming Loss challenges the brain’s sense of safety, familiarity and predictability. When something important is lost, the nervous system may remain in a heightened state of stress, leading to anxiety, emotional exhaustion or difficulty resting. Grief is not something to be “fixed” but when overwhelm becomes persistent, additional support can help the mind and body find steadier ground. How Hypnotherapy Helps with Grief & Loss Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) helps support emotional regulation during grief by calming the nervous system and reducing stress responses associated with loss. Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help: ease emotional overwhelm support rest and sleep reduce anxiety linked to grief improve day-to-day coping restore a sense of internal balance This approach does not remove grief or memories. Instead, it supports your ability to live alongside grief with less distress. Does Hypnotherapy Help with Grief? Many people ask “does hypnotherapy help with grief and loss?” Hypnotherapy can be helpful because grief often affects both the emotional brain and the body. Supporting the nervous system allows emotions to feel more manageable and less overwhelming. People often find hypnotherapy helpful because it: promotes calm and grounding reduces emotional overload supports sleep and rest helps rebuild emotional resilience Everyone’s experience is individual, and sessions are always paced gently. Grief, Anxiety & Emotional Wellbeing Grief is often accompanied by anxiety, especially when life feels uncertain after loss. You may notice: fear about coping alone anxiety about further loss difficulty relaxing emotional ups and downs Hypnotherapy supports emotional wellbeing by helping the nervous system feel safer and more settled during periods of grief. Feeling Stuck in Grief Some people worry they are “stuck” in grief or not grieving in the “right” way. Hypnotherapy does not push you to move on or let go. Instead, it supports emotional regulation so that grief feels less overwhelming and life can gradually regain balance alongside it. How Many Hypnotherapy Sessions Are Needed for Grief? A common question is “how many hypnotherapy sessions are needed for grief and loss?” The number of sessions varies depending on the nature of the loss and how it is affecting you. Some people benefit from short-term support, while others choose ongoing sessions during longer adjustment periods. This can be discussed during your free 20-minute discovery call. Is Hypnotherapy Safe During Grief? Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe, gentle and non-invasive approach. You remain: fully aware and conscious in control at all times able to pause or stop whenever needed Sessions are always led at your pace, with sensitivity and care. What to Expect During Hypnotherapy Sessions Hypnotherapy is a calm, collaborative and deeply relaxing process. During sessions: you’ll learn how grief affects the brain and nervous system your body is guided into deep relaxation hypnosis supports emotional regulation and calm Many clients report feeling lighter, steadier or more rested after sessions. <image:title>Hypnotherapy for Life Changes & Transitions - Life changes can feel deeply unsettling, even when they are expected, chosen or positive.</image:title>
<image:caption>You may find yourself navigating a transition that looks manageable on the outside, yet internally feels overwhelming, disorientating or emotionally draining. Thoughts may race, emotions may feel unpredictable, or you may feel disconnected from yourself during a period of change. Life transitions often challenge our sense of stability, identity and certainty. When several changes happen close together, or when change follows loss or stress, the nervous system can struggle to keep up. Hypnotherapy for Life Changes Hypnotherapy for life changes and transitions offers calm, supportive space to help you process change, reduce emotional overwhelm and regain a sense of balance. Using solution-focused hypnotherapy, sessions focus on helping the nervous system adapt to change more gently, allowing the mind to move forward with clarity rather than feeling stuck in uncertainty. At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I support clients through periods of change via online hypnotherapy across the UK, as well as in-person sessions in Derby / Nottingham (DE72) What Counts as a Life Change? Life changes can take many forms and may affect people very differently. Common transitions include: relationship breakdowns or divorce career change or work-related transitions redundancy or job loss becoming a parent or adjusting to parenthood empty nest transitions relocation or moving home health-related changes identity shifts or feeling “lost” major decisions or turning points Even positive changes can place pressure on the nervous system as it adjusts to new demands and uncertainty. Why Life Changes Can Feel So Difficult The brain is designed to seek safety and predictability. During periods of change, familiar routines, roles or expectations may shift. This can activate the brain’s stress response, leading to: heightened anxiety emotional overwhelm difficulty sleeping overthinking and indecision loss of confidence low mood or emotional fatigue When change feels prolonged or unresolved, these responses can persist even when the situation itself has stabilised. How Hypnotherapy Helps During Life Transitions Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) helps calm the nervous system and reduce the stress response associated with uncertainty and change. Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help: regulate emotional responses reduce overwhelm and mental overload support clearer thinking and decision-making restore a sense of internal stability build resilience during transition Rather than analysing the past in depth, solution-focused hypnotherapy supports forward movement, helping the mind adapt more comfortably to new circumstances. Does Hypnotherapy Work for Life Changes? Many people ask “does hypnotherapy help with major life changes?” Hypnotherapy can be particularly helpful during transitions because it works with both the mind and the body. Change is often experienced physically as well as emotionally, and hypnotherapy helps address both aspects together. People often find hypnotherapy helpful because it: promotes calm during uncertainty reduces emotional reactivity supports confidence during decision-making helps the mind adjust to new situations Everyone’s experience is individual, but many people notice increased clarity and emotional steadiness within a small number of sessions. Life Changes, Anxiety & Emotional Wellbeing Periods of change are often linked with anxiety, stress or low mood. You may notice: increased worry about the future difficulty letting go of the past fear of making the “wrong” decision emotional ups and downs Hypnotherapy supports emotional wellbeing by helping the nervous system settle, allowing emotions to stabilise and confidence to return gradually. Feeling Stuck or Unsure During Change Some people feel caught between what was and what comes next. This “in-between” phase can feel uncomfortable, confusing or isolating. Hypnotherapy helps reduce the sense of being stuck by supporting emotional regulation and encouraging forward momentum at a pace that feels safe. How Many Hypnotherapy Sessions Are Needed for Life Changes? A common question is “how many hypnotherapy sessions are needed during life transitions?” The number of sessions varies depending on the nature of the change and how long it has been affecting you. Some people notice improvements within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support during extended periods of adjustment. Is Hypnotherapy Safe During Periods of Change? Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and non-invasive approach. You remain: fully aware and conscious in control at all times able to open your eyes or speak whenever you wish Hypnotherapy is not mind control and cannot make you do anything against your will. <image:title>Horse Riding Confidence Hypnotherapy | Nervous Rider Help - Has Fear Taken the Reins? You used to love riding. The freedom, the partnership with your horse, the thrill of improving together. But somewhere along the way, something changed. Perhaps it was a fall. Maybe a spook that shook you. Or perhaps the anxiety crept in gradually, without any obvious cause. Now you might find yourself: Making excuses to avoid riding Feeling sick with nerves before you even reach the yard Tensing up in the saddle (and your horse knows it) Sticking to "safe" activities when you dream of doing more Wondering if you'll ever feel confident again Constantly anticipating something going wrong while riding Struggling to relax in the saddle Feeling physically anxious before lessons or competitions Avoiding things you used to enjoy with your horse Feeling frustrated that your riding confidence has changed Maybe you avoid hacking alone now. Maybe cantering your horse suddenly feels overwhelming. Maybe your confidence changed after a fall or maybe it slowly disappeared over time. You're not alone and this doesn't have to be your story forever.</image:title>
<image:caption>And one of the hardest parts? You often know you’re capable. But your nervous system reacts as though horse riding is dangerous anyway. This is far more common than many horse riders realise.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hypnotherapy in Derbyshire - Online Hypnotherapy: Helping Clients Across Derbyshire, Nottingham and Beyond</image:title>
<image:caption>If something has been bothering or upsetting you and you've had enough of working around it, you're in the right place. I'm Emma Fogg, an award winning Solution Focused Hypnotherapist based in Risley, and I work with people right across Derbyshire, from Derby and Ilkeston to Long Eaton, Belper, Chesterfield and Matlock, as well as Nottingham just over the border. Nearly all of my work is online, which means it makes no difference whether you're ten minutes down the road or on the other side of the world. Stop smoking and stop vaping is the one exception. I offer that in person here in Derbyshire as well as online. You Don't Have to Live Like This Anxiety doesn't stay neatly in one corner of your life. It creeps into your mornings before you've even got out of bed. It sits with you in meetings, on the school run, in the quiet moments when you wish your mind would just switch off. You might recognise some of these: A constant sense of dread you can't quite explain Overthinking every conversation, decision and "what if" Physical symptoms: tight chest, shallow breathing, a knot in your stomach Avoiding situations, people or places that trigger your anxiety Exhaustion from simply trying to hold it all together Lying awake at 3am with your thoughts racing This isn't a character flaw. This isn't weakness. This is your nervous system doing exactly what it was built to do. The problem is, it's doing it far too often, triggered by things that aren't actually dangerous. Your brain has a built in threat detection system. The threat alarm is incredibly useful if there was a real threat like big grizzly polar bear. But.. when it fires in response to a difficult email, a social situation, or an uncertain future, it causes unnecessary suffering. Hypnotherapy works by going directly to the source of that alarm and recalibrating it.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I'm Emma Fogg founder of Next Chapter Hypnotherapy and an award winning hypnotherapist based in Derbyshire. Before training as a hypnotherapist, I spent over a decade in high performance corporate environments, working in senior sales and business leadership roles. I know what it means to push through anxiety while appearing completely fine on the outside. I know the toll it takes, and I know that "just getting on with it" is not a sustainable strategy. That experience is exactly why I am so passionate about helping people who are ready to do something different rather than carry on pushing through each day filled with dread.</image:caption>

<image:title>Emetophobia: Fear of Vomit - Hypnotherapy helps you break free from the anxiety, avoidance and constant worry that Emetophobia creates so you can eat, travel and live without fear running the show. Recognise this? ↓ It's 11pm and your daughter mentions a kid in her class was sick that day. You feel your stomach drop. You lie awake running through everything she touched, everything she ate, calculating hours until you'd know if she "caught it." You tell yourself you're overreacting. You already know you're not going to sleep tonight. Or maybe it's the dinner invitation you turned down again not because you didn't want to go, but because you can't eat food you didn't prepare yourself. Maybe it's the holiday you cancelled because the thought of getting sick in a foreign country, far from your own bathroom, was unbearable. Maybe it's the five "safe" foods you've eaten on rotation for the last three years, or the constant low hum of dread every time someone near you clears their throat. If any of this sounds familiar, you're not overreacting and you're not alone. This is emetophobia and it's genuinely treatable. What is Emetophobia? Emetophobia is an intense, persistent fear of vomiting or of seeing others vomit. It's recognized as a specific phobia, and for many people it goes far beyond squeamishness it quietly rewrites the rules of daily life: what you eat, where you go, who you spend time with, whether you can travel, even whether you feel able to have children. It's more common than most people realize. Research puts lifetime prevalence at around 6-7% in women and 2-3% in men and it typically takes root in childhood. How it shows up in daily life Emetophobia rarely stays contained to one situation. It spreads into corners of life that seem unrelated at first. You might recognize yourself in one, or several, of these: The mum who skips her own child's birthday party because there's a stomach bug going around the school. The colleague who has never once eaten the office lunch someone else brought in. The person who has memorized the exact expiration policies of every restaurant they'll consider eating at and still checks twice. The traveler who hasn't left the country in a decade because what if I get food poisoning and there's no proper bathroom. The partner who can't be in the same room during a hangover or a stomach flu, even to help, because their own panic takes over first. Underneath these patterns, there's often a physical layer too nausea, stomach aches, acid reflux, fatigue which creates a cruel loop: the anxiety produces the very sensations you're afraid of, which fuels more anxiety. Where it comes from The exact cause isn't fully understood, but it's thought to develop from a combination of things a distressing episode of vomiting or illness in childhood, witnessing someone else's severe or frightening vomiting (through illness, alcohol, or pregnancy), or a general tendency toward anxiety. Because it forms as a learned, automatic response rather than a conscious choice, willpower alone rarely resolves it. You can't logic your way out of a fear that isn't happening on a logical level in the first place, which is exactly where hypnotherapy is effective. Why hypnotherapy works Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, where phobic responses like this actually live, rather than only addressing the fear intellectually. In practice, that means guiding you into deep relaxation to lower your baseline anxiety, identifying and gently working through the underlying fear response, and reframing the automatic thoughts and associations that trigger panic in the first place. Research has found it performs at least as well as other relaxation and imagery-based approaches for anxiety disorders, and hypnosis is recognized more broadly as an effective adjunct in phobia treatment. It won't necessarily replace other care you're receiving, but for many people, it's the missing piece that finally makes lasting change possible, the piece that lets you stop white knuckling your way through everyday life. What to expect A relaxed, judgment free discovery call first, so I understand exactly how emetophobia shows up for you whether that's food related, illness anxiety, social avoidance, or fear tied to pregnancy or parenting. From there, sessions are tailored to your specific triggers and paced entirely to your comfort. No one will ask you to confront vomiting directly. This is about calming the response underneath it, not testing you. FAQ Is hypnotherapy safe? Yes, you remain awake and in control throughout; it's a guided state of deep relaxation and focus, not something done "to" you. How many sessions will I need? It varies, but many clients notice a meaningful shift within 8-12 sessions. Can this really work if I've had this fear for years, or since childhood? Yes, how long you've had the fear doesn't determine how well hypnotherapy works, since it addresses the underlying response rather than just the years of habit built around it. Will you make me be sick or confront vomiting directly? No, sessions don't involve exposure to vomiting; the work happens through relaxation and subconscious reframing Read more in my blog here: Emetophobia</image:title>

<image:title>Hypnotherapy for Postnatal Anxiety & Overwhelm | Derby, Nottingham & Online - You love them. You're still not quite yourself.</image:title>
<image:caption>Maybe you cry at things that never used to touch you. Maybe you lie awake listening for breathing that is perfectly fine. Maybe you got through the whole day and cannot remember a single minute of it. You are not failing at this. Your nervous system has been running on high alert for months, and it has not been given a chance to come down. I work with a lot of parents. Not because parenting is a problem to be fixed, but because parenting is a major change. The first few years ask an enormous amount of a nervous system and very few people get the space to process that. Sessions happen online, in your own home, with your baby right there with you. No childcare to arrange. No getting everyone in the car. Does any of this sound familiar? Anxiety that arrived with the baby and never quite left Checking on them again, and again, even though you know they're fine Intrusive thoughts about something happening to them Feeling flat or disconnected when you expected to feel joyful Snapping at people you love, then feeling terrible about it Dreading things you used to find easy, like soft play, or the school gate, or driving with them in the car Not recognising the person you've become since having them Exhausted but unable to switch off when you finally get the chance Worrying about a second baby, or about going back to work What happens in a session We talk. Not about everything that's ever gone wrong. Solution focused hypnotherapy looks at where you want to get to, the positive things that you’ve experienced lately so most of the conversation faces forwards. I explain what your brain is doing. Understanding why anxiety shows up the way it does takes a lot of the fear out of it. Most people find this part unexpectedly reassuring. You relax. The hypnosis part is guided relaxation. You stay aware, you stay in control, and you can open your eyes or speak at any point. It is not mind control and you cannot be made to do anything you don't want to. Most people describe it as the most rested they've felt in a long time. Important to Know: This is support alongside your GP, midwife or health visitor, rather than instead of them. If things feel heavier than this, or you're having thoughts that frighten you, please speak to your GP or call 111. Plenty of the people I work with are getting medical support at the same time, and that's a good thing, not a barrier.</image:caption>

<image:title>Stop Vaping Hypnotherapy - Stop Vaping Hypnotherapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Do you actually know how many puffs you have had today? Probably not, but I bet you know exactly where your vape is right now, probably right next to you or in your mouth whilst reading this. If you left it at home you would go back for it because it’s got to be with you constantly. That is the bit people do not talk about with vaping. There is no packet to run out of, no last one, no going outside in the rain and it feeling a little off putting. It is in your hand at your desk, on the sofa, in bed, in the car, all day, with no time built in like finishing a cigarette to make you stop. Stop vaping hypnotherapy works on that automated subconscious response system. The part of you that automatically picks it up while thinking about something else entirely. I am Emma, an award winning Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and I work with people who are completely done with vaping but cannot seem to stop. This is a single session, in person in Derbyshire or online anywhere in the UK. Why vaping can be harder to stop than smoking People are often surprised by this and then relieved to hear it said out loud. A cigarette has an end. You light it, you smoke it, it is finished, and the packet eventually runs out. Every one of those is a natural stopping point, and each one gives you a moment where you could choose differently. A vape has none of them. It sits there, it is silent, it is odourless enough to use anywhere, and there is no point in the day where it makes you stop and decide. So the habit gets to repeat far more often than smoking ever did, and repetition is exactly what makes a pattern automatic. Add to that the fact that a lot of people vape indoors, in bed, at work, in front of the television, and the vape ends up woven into far more moments of your day than cigarettes ever were. If you have found stopping vaping harder than you expected, that is why. It is not that you are worse at this than other people. How hypnotherapy can help you stop vaping In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we do a few things to break the vaping habit. First we talk and understand the patterns and associations with the vape. We look at where vaping sits in your day, what it is currently doing for you and what you actually want your life to look like without it. A brain that has a clear picture of what it is moving towards works very differently to a brain that is only being told what it can no longer have. We learn and understand what vaping and nicotine actually does in your brain because knowledge is power and as humans we are curious creatures, if we know what is going on up there we are better equipped to solve it. We also use some specialist techniques to break down the vaping habit further and remove any lasting reasons to actually want to smoke. Afterwards, you leave the session as a non vaper. You get a personalised audio recording from the session to use at home in the days that follow, which keeps reinforcing the work while everything settles. I also include WhatsApp support, so you can message me after the session with any questions. I do not disappear once you have paid, I want to support you through this huge change. That is, if you even feel that you need me of course! The honest bit Hypnotherapy can carry a lot of it. It cannot carry all of it. The session does the heavy work of changing how vaping sits in your mind but then you still have to walk past the vape shop.

<image:title>Stop Vaping Hypnotherapy - Stop Vaping Hypnotherapy FAQs</image:title>
<image:caption>1) Where is my stop vaping hypnosis session held? Most of my work is online. Stopping vaping is the one I genuinely prefer to do face to face, so I offer both and I will happily do either. 2) Is Stop Vaping Hypnotherapy right for me? It is a good fit if: You have decided to stop and you want it to actually stick this time. You have cut your nicotine strength down repeatedly and crept back up again. You switched from cigarettes to vaping, got off the cigarettes, and now cannot get off this. You vape more than you would ever admit out loud. You are willing to put a little conscious work in on your side by listening to your audio tape and running through what we discuss in session. It is not a good fit if: You are here because your partner or your children want you to stop and you do not. You are looking for something that requires nothing from you at all. You want a 100% guarantee. Nobody honest can give you one. 3) How much is the Stop Vaping Session? £250 for the one time session, in person or online it lasts for approximately 2 hours. That includes the pre session prep, the session itself, your personalised audio recording to keep and message support afterwards. Before you book anything you can have a free thirty minute discovery call, which costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It is a conversation to work out whether this is right for you. If it is not, I will say so. 4) How many sessions will I need to stop vaping? 8) Should i reduce my nicotine strength before the session? No need. Carry on exactly as you are until the day. The NHS suggests either stepping nicotine strength down gradually or stopping outright with support and if the stepping down route had been going to work for you, you would probably not be reading this page. Arriving mid taper and irritable does not make the session more effective. 9) Does stop vaping hypnotherapy work online? Yes. Online sessions are the same session, on Microsoft Teams, and hypnosis works perfectly well through a screen because the work is happening in your mind, not in the room. I offer in person for this one because I like doing it face to face, not because online is a lesser version. 10) Will I put weight on if I stop vapng? Some people worry about swapping one habit for another and it is a fair thing to raise. We cover this in the session and reinforce you as someone who is looking after themselves generally but I do give the option to replace the behaviour lightly with something else like drinking more water or squash instead which are great for our body and skin and wellness. Bring it up on the discovery call and we will plan for it. 11) I switched to vaping to get off cigarettes. Will stopping send me back to smoking? It is the thing people are most afraid of and I understand why. We are not just removing something. We are reinforcing you as someone who does not use nicotine at all, cigarettes included and giving your brain a clear picture of what it is heading towards instead.</image:caption>
