Hypnotherapy in Derbyshire, Online Across the UK

Online Hypnotherapy: Helping Clients Across Derbyshire, Nottingham and Beyond

If something has been bothering or upsetting you and you've had enough of working around it, you're in the right place.
I'm Emma Fogg, an award winning Solution Focused Hypnotherapist based in Risley, and I work with people right across Derbyshire, from Derby and Ilkeston to Long Eaton, Belper, Chesterfield and Matlock, as well as Nottingham just over the border.

Nearly all of my work is online, which means it makes no difference whether you're ten minutes down the road or on the other side of the world. Stop smoking and stop vaping is the one exception.
I offer that in person here in Derbyshire as well as online.

You Don't Have to Live Like This

Anxiety doesn't stay neatly in one corner of your life.
It creeps into your mornings before you've even got out of bed.
It sits with you in meetings, on the school run, in the quiet moments when you wish your mind would just switch off.

You might recognise some of these:

  • A constant sense of dread you can't quite explain

  • Overthinking every conversation, decision and "what if"

  • Physical symptoms: tight chest, shallow breathing, a knot in your stomach

  • Avoiding situations, people or places that trigger your anxiety

  • Exhaustion from simply trying to hold it all together

  • Lying awake at 3am with your thoughts racing

This isn't a character flaw. This isn't weakness.
This is your nervous system doing exactly what it was built to do. The problem is, it's doing it far too often, triggered by things that aren't actually dangerous.

Your brain has a built in threat detection system. The threat alarm is incredibly useful if there was a real threat like big grizzly polar bear. But.. when it fires in response to a difficult email, a social situation, or an uncertain future, it causes unnecessary suffering.

Hypnotherapy works by going directly to the source of that alarm and recalibrating it.

About Me: Your Derbyshire Hypnotherapist

I'm Emma Fogg founder of Next Chapter Hypnotherapy and an award winning hypnotherapist based in Derbyshire.

Before training as a hypnotherapist, I spent over a decade in high performance corporate environments, working in senior sales and business leadership roles. I know what it means to push through anxiety while appearing completely fine on the outside. I know the toll it takes, and I know that "just getting on with it" is not a sustainable strategy.

That experience is exactly why I am so passionate about helping people who are ready to do something different rather than carry on pushing through each day filled with dread.

Anxiety Conditions I Work With

Hypnotherapy can be highly effective for a wide range of anxiety-related issues, including:

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

  • Social anxiety and fear of judgement

  • Panic attacks and panic disorder

  • Performance anxiety

  • Health anxiety

  • Fear of failure and perfectionism

  • Workplace anxiety and burnout

  • Relationship anxiety

  • OCD-related anxiety patterns

  • Phobias and specific fears

If you're not sure whether hypnotherapy is right for your particular anxiety, a free discovery call is the perfect starting point.

What Else Can I help with?

Anxiety is the biggest part of my work, but it isn't all of it.

Sleep

Lying awake at three in the morning going through tomorrow, or getting your eight hours and still waking up flat. Sleep trouble is usually the stress side of things rather than the sleep itself, so that's where we start. More on hypnotherapy for sleep.

Confidence and Self Esteem

Some people go quiet in a room full of strangers. Others can walk into any meeting, hold their own, and then spend the whole drive home pulling themselves apart. Both are worth doing something about. More on hypnotherapy for confidence.

Phobias and fears

Flying, driving, needles, the dentist, being sick. Specific fears are often some of the most satisfying work to do, because the brain has learned something very precise and it can learn something else instead. There's a page for each one: fear of flying, fear of driving, fear of needles, fear of the dentist and emetophobia.

Stress and burnout

Running on empty, short with the people who least deserve it, and still not properly switching off at the weekend. More on hypnotherapy for stress and burnout.

Stopping Smoking and Vaping

This is the one thing I offer in person as well as online, and in Derbyshire most people choose in person for it. It's one longer dedicated session rather than a course of them. More on stop smoking hypnotherapy.

Serving Clients Across Derbyshire and the East Midlands

Next Chapter Hypnotherapy works with clients throughout:

Derbyshire: Derby, Ilkeston, Risley, Long Eaton, Belper, Chesterfield, Matlock, Bakewell, Ripley, Alfreton, Heanor, Swanwick, Ashbourne, Buxton, Shirebrook, Dronfield, Glossop and the villages around them.

Nottinghamshire: Nottingham, Beeston, Arnold, Carlton, Hucknall, Eastwood, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and the wider East Midlands.

Everywhere else: sessions are online, so it genuinely doesn't matter where you are in the UK or the world.

Wherever you are, if something's getting in the way, it's worth a conversation.

What Hypnotherapy Actually Is

Hypnotherapy is a clinically recognised, evidence based approach to help treat a variety of things.
It works with the subconscious mind, where the deep-rooted patterns, beliefs and automatic responses are stored.

Unlike traditional talking therapies that analyse the problem in the conscious mind, hypnotherapy works in the part of your mind that runs on auto-pilot. The area of your brain that responds before logical thinking.

During a session, you enter a deeply relaxed, focused state (similar to being absorbed in a good book or just before sleep) where your subconscious becomes more open to positive change. You will recognise this state as similar to day-dreaming, it is not mind control and you can move or open your eyes at any time just like day dreaming,

In this state, we can

  • Spend the time on who you want to become, rather than going back over what's gone wrong

  • Work with the responses that fire before you've had a say in them

  • Build up the calmer, steadier side of how you handle things

  • Rehearse a different response often enough that it starts to feel like yours

Many clients notice a significant shift within just a few sessions.

Why Online Hypnotherapy Works Just as Well as in person

If you've been searching for hypnotherapy near me in Derbyshire, you're probably wondering whether doing this through a screen really works.

Almost all of my work is online, and it's how the large majority of my clients choose to see me. A good few of them live close enough to drive over and still don't.

What makes hypnotherapy work is the relationship, the guided relaxation, and what gets said while you're in it. None of that needs a particular room. Plenty of people find it easier at home, because they're already somewhere safe and familiar and they don't have to drive anywhere afterwards.

For clients across Derby, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Chesterfield, Matlock, Belper and Nottingham, online means:

  • No commuting, no parking, no rushing

  • Complete privacy and comfort in your own home

  • Appointment times that fit around work and the school run

  • The same session, without the drive either side of it

All you need is a quiet room, something comfortable to sit on, and an internet connection that holds up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How It Works

Getting started is simple.

Step 1: Book Your Free 30-Minute Discovery Call We have a relaxed, no-pressure conversation about what's going on for you, how hypnotherapy works, and whether we're a good fit. There's no commitment and no hard sell. Just clarity.

Step 2: Your Personalised Programme If you decide to go ahead, I design a programme tailored specifically to your anxiety.

Step 3: Your Sessions Sessions take place online via a secure video platform. You'll be in your own space, comfortable and relaxed, while I guide you through the process.

Step 4: Lasting Change The aim isn't to hand you a set of coping tools and wave you off. It's to work towards this not being the setting you run on by default.

Is hypnotherapy safe? Yes. Hypnotherapy is a well researched, evidence based therapeutic approach. You remain fully conscious and in control throughout every session. You cannot be made to say or do anything against your will.

How many sessions will I need? This varies depending on the individual, but many clients notice significant change within 6 - 12 sessions. We discuss this during your discovery call.

Will it work for me? Hypnotherapy is effective for most people. The most important factor is your own readiness and willingness to change. If you're genuinely ready to do things differently, hypnotherapy can help.

Do I need to be good at relaxing? Not at all. Many anxious people feel they are bad at relaxing, but hypnotherapy works with your natural mental processes and doesn't require any special ability. If you can focus on a voice, you can experience hypnosis.

What if I've tried therapy before and it hasn't worked? Many of my clients come to me after CBT or counselling that helped only partially or not at all. Hypnotherapy works at a deeper, subconscious level and often succeeds where other approaches have struggled.
